DIAGNOdent

The DIAGNOdent pen uses a laser diode to inspect your teeth and is used as a “second opinion” when we are unsure as to how far an area of decay might extend into a tooth. You don’t feel anything at all while we use the DIAGNOdent tool. This instrument works in a similar way to sonar. By emitting completely safe light frequencies and measuring the time it takes to return, we know if it is time to fix a cavity, or if the area is safe to leave. In this way, unnecessary fillings are avoided and cavities that require attention are caught early so that the treatment necessary is minimal.
