Wisdom Teeth Extraction

A common problem that we often encounter in the mid to late teenage years is the eruption of wisdom teeth. Unfortunately, most people end up with too little space remaining in their mouth for these last teeth to erupt successfully. This can lead to problems with pain or infection as the teeth become trapped and impacted. Some wisdom teeth won’t need to be removed, some can be removed simply under local anaesthetic and some will need to be removed under IV sedation or in hospital under a general anaesthetic. Our usual approach at The Dental Centre is to diagnose the position of these teeth with an OPG xray or a 3D scan. We can then let you know if removal is required and discuss the options available to do so safely and comfortably.
